It’s Worm Weather!
We recently came across a book about spring that our family has been loving, Worm Weather by Jean Taft. This fun story of rainy days and splashing in mud reminds me of how much I loved the sound of the rain hitting the hood of my raincoat, the smell of earth, and the promise of spring flowers just around the corner.
While spring elicits so much excitement, it also tracks bootprints of mud and rain into every doorway you enter. So, what’s the plan? Merely having a mudroom/ entryway isn’t enough to keep chaos at bay.
Here are some items I consider when planning the entry space:
Where will muddy shoes and boots go so they do not track anything through the home?
Where will wet coats go so they do not drip on the floor?
Are there weather accessories that need to be accessible from the doorway? (ie hats, mittens, umbrellas, sunglasses)
Are there essentials that need to be accessible from the doorway? (ie keys, wallets, sunscreen, etc)
What types of bags are often carried in and out that will need a home in the entryway?
Once you have answered these questions, it is time to implement some solutions ahead of the muddy weather. As always, check your local thrift shops for some cool coat hooks or boot trays to save money and reduce waste!
